Best Tacos In Memphis

TORCHY’S TACOS MEMPHIS. BEST TACOS IN MEMPHIS?

The first time I ever heard of Torchy’s Tacos was while planning a weekend getaway to Austin. I was working with a team of consultants in the corporate world when one insisted I needed to eat at Torchy’s Tacos. They were so good, he tried to smuggle them back in his suitcase to New York City (or so he says). However, any taco that’s worth risking being placed on a no-fly list must be incredible.

And, it was. So much so that my husband and I ate there a total of 3 times in 3 days. There was such a vast assortment of tacos that we never felt like we were eating the same meal. Plus they have a unique Taco of the Month, which was disappointing because my husband ate like 5 of the monthly special Chicken and Waffle tacos that weekend.

Luckily for us Memphians, its no longer a Texas only thing, with a location planned to open in East Memphis on May 26th, 2021!

Personal Favorite Taco: Trailer Park

The fried chicken with poblano sauce is an unexpected pairing in the best way. And of course you need to “get it trashy” which subs out lettuce for queso (easy decision, if you ask me).

Must Have Add-On: Hillbilly Queso + Chips

What makes this different? The upgrade of having the chorizo in the already amazing queso. Pour it on a taco, too. Why not?!?

A Tie For Second Place: Green Chile Pork and Fried Avocado

The classic pork taco with cojita cheese is a safe option for anyone wanting to be sure they get an enjoyable taco in the mix of some unique ones. If you love avocados, the fried option is such a unique twist and doesn’t feel like the heavy fried foods you’d see featured at a state fair.
If you’re wondering if I ate all of these at once, the answer is “absolutely not!” If you’re wondering if my husband ate all of these at once, the answer is “of course he did”. Although everything is delicious, a taco and side or just two tacos gets pretty filling. If you walk in thinking you can just sample, you’ll be tempted to not put the rest of one of these delicious tacos down. This is a great addition to the ever expanding food scene in Memphis and I’m thrilled to welcome them to town!
